Cyon Medical is a specialist regulatory, clinical, and product consulting practice based in Melbourne, Australia. We work across medtech, biotech, healthtech, and diagnostics — at the points where it matters most.
The practice is led by Martin Thompson — a senior executive, company founder, and strategic operator with over a decade of experience building and running medical technology businesses from the ground up. Martin has served as CEO, CTO, and Director across multiple medtech and biotech ventures, leading everything from company formation and investor relations through to commercial operations, laboratory setup, team building, and market entry. He understands how medical technology businesses actually work — not just the regulatory and clinical side, but the strategy, the contracts, the commercial relationships, and the decisions that determine whether a company succeeds.
That business foundation is backed by deep technical and regulatory expertise. Martin is a Registered Professional Engineer (RPEng) with hands-on experience across the full product and regulatory lifecycle — regulatory submissions across TGA, FDA 510(k), EU MDR, and SaMD; ISO 13485 QMS builds and external audits; clinical trial design, regulatory oversight, and large-scale device deployment across AU, US, and UK; medical device hardware, firmware, embedded systems, and diagnostics engineering; and project and program management with major pharmaceutical partners including global pharma. He has negotiated and executed contracts, MOUs, distribution agreements, and SOWs across international markets.
